This is Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Although I am sitting here in my bed on Halloween night, I really have had a great Halloween weekend! Things I did this weekend:

  • went to CPK for Katie's birthday
  • went to SLC with my family because my grandpa was in town
  • ate delicious German chocolate and bohunk bread from Siegfried's
  • dressed up as a dinosaur for our ward Halloween party
  • wrote my talk for church and then gave said talk
  • took a nice Sunday nap
  • watched Once Upon a Time (I just really love fairytales... sometimes I wonder if this show is my life...)
  • went to a Halloween dessert party!
  • watched Hocus Pocus
  • wore my dinosaur costume again to school and work today
  • ate lots of sugar and sweets
  • and lastly I made this.

I would say this is a pretty successful weekend.

Happy Birthday sister dearest!

I guess this is the week of birthdays because today is my sister, Katie's birthday!!! It has already started as a fantastic day! Chocolate chip pumpkin waffles and streamers from the lovely Brooke! A surprise might be coming her way later (I don't want to say anything too revealing just in case she reads my blog before the surprise actually happens) and then CPK for dinner (which seems to be turning into tradition for Katie's birthday). Oh and later Chuck season premiere! Oh yeah it's going to be a great day!
Anyways, here are some things that I love about Katie:
  1. she is my sister and my best friend
  2. she feeds me when I am poor
  3. she lets me snuggle with her (occasionally)
  4. sometimes we pretend to be in Pride and Prejudice and we will talk under the covers of one of our beds
  5. she has a great sense of style and she lets me borrow her clothes
  6. we go down the Barbie aisle at Target and ogle at all the cool toys together
  7. she knows interesting HP facts
  8. she is a great example to me
  9. she has inherited mom's ability to do crossword puzzles and I am always impressed when she finishes one
  10. I love that she loves me and I love her
I don't know what I would do without Katie. I love her to pieces.
Happy Birthday Katie!

Happy Birthday Siân-Amy!

Today is my lovely friend, Siân-Amy's birthday!!! I just adore Siân-Amy; she is one of my best friends. Siân-Amy and I work together at the ticket office and that is how are friendship started. This summer we got to know each other pretty well and now we are really good friends. We have so much fun together and I know that life would be pretty dull without her.
Here are some things that I love about Siân-Amy:

  1. she loves to talk
  2. she has a cool English accent
  3. we have the same sense of humor
  4. she always makes me laugh
  5. she has taught me a ton of English vernacular
  6. she loves to rhyme
  7. she loves to sing at any moment

Happy Birthday Siân-Amy!!!!!

Oh and in other news, my friend Michelle just got her mission call!!! She will be serving in the Tampa, Florida  mission speaking Spanish!!! I'm so excited for her! She is going to be such a great missionary!
Isn't she just beautiful! (Thank you Facebook for the picture!)

Fall colors

On Sunday, my cousin Jordan gave his farewell talk in church because he leaves for his mission in the Phillipines in the next couple of weeks. After church my sister and I went with my aunt, uncle and cousins on a drive up the canyon and had a nice little picnic. This is the perfect time of year to see all of the colors of fall. Fall is coming to a close end, but I'm glad I was able to see the last beautiful bits of it.

CornBellys

Last Saturday my ward went to Cornbellys at Thanksgiving Point. Cornbellys is a corn maze and pumpkin fest that happens every year around Halloween time. There are also other activities such as hay rides, pig races, haunted maze, giant pillow jumping, and tractor racing (not real tractors... bike tractors...not as much fun...a lot harder to steer). We had a ton of fun! Unfortunately my camera died on the way there in the car; fortunately Kelly commandeered Ali's camera and so there are still pictures from our evening.

Party Time: Harry Potter style

Last Friday my roommates and I threw a party at our apartment.

Theme: Halloween Harry Potter

Best idea we ever had.

Banquet table: licorice wands, Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, Hagrid's Rock Cakes, chocolate frogs,  butterbeer, pumpkin pasties, gillyweed, and dragon's blood

 We had a magical time.

Missing Kaitlyn

I miss Kaitlyn. Why does she have to be in Jerusalem. It's so far away. I miss doing things like this:

Song: How Could Life get Any Better by Nik Day

So since she is away, she sent me some photos of herself in Jerusalem. I decided to help her out and edit them for her. Here they are:

I had a lovely time in Jerusalem. :)

Meet Mickie

Last night for Family Home Evening my group went to a rest home to visit the elderly. I love to talk to old people. I feel like they are always nice and they always have the best stories to tell. Katie, Brooke, and I visited with a woman named Mickie. Such a lovely woman! I feel like we could have talked with her for hours. She told us a little about her life and we talked about our lives. She gave us some really good advice: Boys do dumb things. Mickie knows how it is.

I don't know what it is about talking with the older generation, but it always brings me to a point that I just want to know more. I know we go to do these things as a service to them, but honestly a lot of times I feel like I am the one being served. I always come away feeling like I learned something valuable and just pure joy.

My advice to you: Get to know those of a previous generation. They can teach you something and they always have a story to tell.

It's cold and all I want is my snuggie

So I guess the weather decided to go straight from summer to winter. Today it has been rainy and gloomy all day. Sometimes I try to be optimistic about days like this, but days like this are when I realize how much the weather really effects my mood. Although today was great, really it was! I got to hang out with my friends and my sisters and one of my classes was cancelled, so really that constitutes for a good day! Now that I'm home though I really just want to snuggle up in my snuggie and either a) watch a movie or b) read a really good book. Doesn't that just sound fantastic? I already had soup (ok well it was actually Top Ramen, but hey that's soup-esque right? and come on, I'm a college student, give me a break!) and now I feel like I need to get a cup of hot chocolate to warm me up again. I hope you are all having a lovely Friday night. Mine is going to be spent like this:

As of late

Don't worry I didn't die.
Although I wasn't sure for a while there.
I feel bad because I haven't written on here in a while. I just have been so darn busy! Who knew school could take up so much of my time! I promise to try and be better about blogging. So to catch you up on my life, here is a list of things I have been doing lately:
  1. SCHOOL. Yes, this is the thing that has been taking up all my time and preventing me from doing fun things (like this cool little blog). Although I do feel pretty accomplished because I went to the library...on a Saturday....two weeks in a row!
  2. General Conference!!! My church has a international conference twice a year where the prophet and apostles speak to the entire church. I love General Conference! I always feel renewed and happy. If you would like to watch a replay you can go here.
  3. My little sister is in town!!! Karlie is here visiting Katie and I for the week! She came for General Conference (see above) and now she is staying for the rest of the week! She is getting her first taste of college life since she doesn't start school until January.
  4. My friend Michelle cam to visit me! I met Michelle in my singles ward back home and she is just so lovely. I really adore her. She has been telling me would come up here for General Conference for a while now and she finally came! I was very happy.
  5. Watching football! Yes, it is football season and unfortunately I didn't get an All-Sports Pass this year, so I don't have tickets to actually go to the games. Do not fret though because I still have watched the games!
  6. Played Rock Band: Beatles. Yeah it's a lot harder when you don't know very many songs. Sorry, but I didn't grow up on the Beatles like everyone else did apparently.
  7. Saw the Tanglewood Marionettes. I got free tickets from work to see The Dragon King and it was amazing!!! Sometimes the talents of others just astound me.
Well that is all I can think of right now. It's not really that exciting. Sorry. In other news we got our first snow yesterday...not really that happy about it. I was getting excited for the fall weather, but then we got bombarded with winter early! Hopefully it will warm up a bit before we really get into winter. Here are a couple of pictures from the last couple of weeks.
General Conference! Best seats ever! Thank you Kenzie's dad!
