Blogcation is over

Hey everyone!
I'm back!
Sorry, you probably thought I died.
I know I left you in a very awkward position of not even finishing my vacation.
Well I PROMISE to get back to that, but at this point I'll just give you a small update in my life.

10 Things that have happened in my life recently:
  1. I applied for graduation!
  2. Met with my school adviser for the first time to complete #1
  3. I started my second to last semester of school!
  4. My best friend, Kaitlyn got MARRIED!
  5. I got a promotion at work and now I do cool things like count the safe.
  6. I found my wedding dress on Pinterest! Well sort of, I found a top part I like and a bottom part I like and I would just put the two together.
  7. Applied to the Disney College Program and sadly didn't get in, but maybe I'll apply again in 6 months.
  8. Started watching Boy Meets World every morning before school starts. I started with them in 8th grade and now they are in their senior year.
  9. I got a new roommate, Shannon, and she loves Harry Potter* more than I do. We have become fast friends.
  10. Started thinking about the future: planning my last 9 credits next semester, thinking of what I want to do when I graduate*, maybe planning a trip to Europe?, etc.
So there you have it, a little about my life right now.
I'll be sure to touch on some more of these soon, I PROMISE.
I'll leave you with this awesome picture of Kaitlyn and I on her wedding day:

*Speaking of Harry Potter, we are planning our second annual Harry Potter Party and I am having a hard time deciding what to dress up as (these are the things that plague my mind at night). I would like to dress up as Luna Lovegood because I have her wand, but there is one huge problem with that, I don't have blonde hair. So if you happen to have a long, blonde wig let me know. I might also go as the trolley lady on the Hogwarts Express. I actually have some good ideas for that one too. If you have any other suggestions please let me know!

Prepare yourself for a parade of pictures (nice alliteration right?)
I promise I will try to be better from now on.

Procrastination at its best

So I am officially done with finals!
I have to admit though, this is probably one of my most impressive procrastination moments.
Every time I would think about starting to study for finals I would  miraculously find something else to do.
This whole weekend I have simply been trying to convince myself to study.
But instead I found some other interesting things to do, such as:
  • eat all of my Easter candy for every meal
  • restart watching LOST*
  • watch Ellen clips
  • paint my nails**
  • sign up for Pottermore***
  • thought about cleaning my room****
  • reorganize my entire "things i want in my wardrobe" board on Pinterest*****
I'll stop there.
But I feel really accomplished so it's ok, right?

*it has been a year since I first watched LOST and I guess I thought it was time for a reunion?
**the only reason I painted my nails was because the internet was down and let me tell you finals week is the WORST time to have your internet down, but at least I painted my nails
***I might have read the entire first book in one sitting. Was it worth it? Yes, yes it was. You should sign up too! You will not regret it! Then add me as a friend! My username is LeviosaGold10965. So what if I might want to make that my nickname, don't judge. Also I was put into Hufflepuff house, slight disappointment, but I'm not going to lie, I totally expected it. All I can think of is a potential meme with a saying that says "I'm so happy I got into the Hufflepuff house! Said no one ever.
****key word THOUGHT haha this did not happen
*****this was an amazing feat! You have to understand that I have had my pinterest now for almost a year and when I first got it all I did was pin clothes and so there were over a thousand pins on that board and I really just need to clean it out.

Just looking over some New Testament notes for my quiz this week.

Day 2: words

Photo of the day
Day 2: words
I have been studying for a New Testament quiz this evening.
I also came across this picture:
Which I felt was also appropriate for "words"
Sometimes Brooke and I like to play bananagrams.
Sometimes we like to make it Harry Potter specific.
Yeah, I know, we're cool.

Me? Procrastinating? Never...

Did I just spend an hour procrastinating doing my homework?
Yes.
How do you ask?
This addicting website.
Ha it makes me laugh.
Check it out.
You won't regret it, unless you don't get your homework done like me...
You might regret later in that case...
But really take some time to see it.
It's great.

I have 3 things on my mind right now

Recently I have had a lot of things on my mind,
but the things that are the most pressing
and that seem to keep me from getting a completely restful sleep are (in no particular order):
FIRST
Starting a business is hard work.
My entrepreneurship class is great and I'm really enjoying it, but it is definitely stressing me out a bit.
I'm sure everything will turn out fine, but for now I can't really stop thinking about it.
I don't think I even said what we decided to do, but just so you know we decided to do the baby blankets.
My recent problem is finding a way to get fabric for a good price.
Question for my readers: How much would you pay for a homemade baby blanket?
AND What could be added or enhanced to the blanket to make you pay more for the blanket?
SECOND
This is slightly related to the first one.
I am thinking about adding a business minor.
It might add another semester to my schooling, but I think it might be a smart idea.
Luckily it's not a very long major and I've already completed some of the classes.
I think it would be really applicable to me.
Then if I ever want to start my own business, I'll know what I'm doing.
THIRD
London Study Abroad this summer?
I got an email this past weekend from one of the professors that do the London program telling me to apply.
I've always wanted to go to London.
I think I would really love it.

I mean look at that view. BEAUTIFUL!
The only thing that is pulling me back is that my family is planning a family vacation for the beginning of August and I might miss it.
Unless my family decides to push it back one week...
That would be great.

So basically I have some big things on my mind.
I know everything will work out and I will be exactly where I should be.

I need your help

This semester I'm taking a basics to entrepreneurship class.
In this class we are divided into groups and we have to create a small business.
Half of my grade depends on my group making $1500.
Yeah, $1500!!!
That seems like a lot of money...
Well, I am coming to you to see if any of you have ideas for a small business.
It has to be something that doesn't cost too much to make, but that we could make a fairly large profit on.
So far the ideas we have thought of are baby blankets/pillows/aprons (something with sewing, you might have guessed that this was my idea...) or we also thought maybe doing iphone covers.
Just comment below with anything you think would be a good business!
Any ideas are much appreciated!

FREEDOM!

FINALS ARE OVER!
I tried to find a song with the word freedom in it, but I just simply couldn't find one good enough.
Instead I found this:
hahaha
This is golden.
I feel like the pop tart as soon as he is released.
FREEDOM!!!!!

Tomorrow at this time I will be at home.
Mmm lovely.

I'm lame during finals

What did I do today?
Let me tell you:
1. Woke up bright and early at 7:24 for my 8am final.
2. Got ready really fast, which included a hat because I didn't want to do my hair.
3. Rushed to class with my obnoxious poster trying to not let my pictures/letters come off.
4. Make it to class, ask if anyone has a glue stick, creepy guy in front that always wears a leather jacket does and I borrow it from him to fix my poster.
5. Sit in class. Present my poster. Sit in class.
6. Get breakfast with Sian-Amy.
7. Spill hot chocolate on my pants (yes it really did hurt).
8. Go to work with Sian-Amy.
9. Study at work  Go on Pinterest and read blogs at work.
10. Go home. Eat leftover chili that Katie made yesterday.
11. Study. Fall asleep. Study. Fall asleep. Study. Fall asleep.
12. Study break.
13. Go to FHE aka eat free pizza from the bishopric! woo!
14. Study some more
15. Take New Testament test and rock it!
16. Take out trash.
17. Shower and sing my heart out, recent favorites: All I want for Christmas is You, O Holy Night, and The First Noel
18. Say I'm going to study and then somehow end up writing a blog post.

So basically that's my day. I'm lame, but whatever. I'm going to be home in 3 days!!! I might have 3 more tests too, but all is well because really I'm feeling pretty good about my classes this year.

Hope your Monday was as eventful as mine!

10 things that distract me from finals

So it's been a while, I know.
I've been busy with school and finals and stuff.
Just so everyone knows, I'll be back home in exactly ONE WEEK!!!
All I have left to do is get through finals and I'm home free!
Anyways,
Here is a list of things that distract me from finals!
  1. Watching Little Women with Brooke and Katie
  2. Watching Anne of Green Gables (first and second) with Brooke and Katie
  3. Looking at vintage clothes online
  4. Thinking of things I want to get for my family for Christmas
  5. Seeing The Help again, but this time at the not-so-dollar-anymore-dollar theater
  6. PINTEREST
  7. Thinking of doing the crafts and projects I find on pinterest, but have yet to find the time (could be my own laziness?)
  8. Did I ever mention that I like to make paper snowflakes?
  9. Watching this and this
  10. Looking at pictures of cute puppies

Final Countdown!

I heard this song while I was at the sewing lab tonight and it made me remember that I only have 20 days until Thanksgiving break!!! I know I talked about it yesterday, but I thought I might as well continue the countdown when I write on my blog.

Well there isn't really anything that exciting that has happened since yesterday, except that I am working on a men's dress shirt for my class and it is starting to look really good! I'm really excited about it. I'll make sure to do a post about all my sewing projects at the end of the semester.

Also I came home to a sick sister. Katie came home from work early not feeling well. As I walked home from school I put on my Nurse Kelsie hat and got her Dayquil and Nyquil and now she is sleeping (hopefully) soundly for the night. Hopefully a good night's rest will make her feel better tomorrow.

Anyway, the only other thing that is going on right now is that I am going to see The Elephant Man tomorrow at 7:30 and I need someone to go with me. If anyone is in Provo and they feels like being artsy with me let me know and you can come with me!

In other good news, my friend, Briggs just got his mission call to Taiwan!!! I am so excited for him to go on his mission. He will be such a wonderful missionary and the people of Taiwan are lucky to have him. Congratulations Briggs!

As of late

Don't worry I didn't die.
Although I wasn't sure for a while there.
I feel bad because I haven't written on here in a while. I just have been so darn busy! Who knew school could take up so much of my time! I promise to try and be better about blogging. So to catch you up on my life, here is a list of things I have been doing lately:
  1. SCHOOL. Yes, this is the thing that has been taking up all my time and preventing me from doing fun things (like this cool little blog). Although I do feel pretty accomplished because I went to the library...on a Saturday....two weeks in a row!
  2. General Conference!!! My church has a international conference twice a year where the prophet and apostles speak to the entire church. I love General Conference! I always feel renewed and happy. If you would like to watch a replay you can go here.
  3. My little sister is in town!!! Karlie is here visiting Katie and I for the week! She came for General Conference (see above) and now she is staying for the rest of the week! She is getting her first taste of college life since she doesn't start school until January.
  4. My friend Michelle cam to visit me! I met Michelle in my singles ward back home and she is just so lovely. I really adore her. She has been telling me would come up here for General Conference for a while now and she finally came! I was very happy.
  5. Watching football! Yes, it is football season and unfortunately I didn't get an All-Sports Pass this year, so I don't have tickets to actually go to the games. Do not fret though because I still have watched the games!
  6. Played Rock Band: Beatles. Yeah it's a lot harder when you don't know very many songs. Sorry, but I didn't grow up on the Beatles like everyone else did apparently.
  7. Saw the Tanglewood Marionettes. I got free tickets from work to see The Dragon King and it was amazing!!! Sometimes the talents of others just astound me.
Well that is all I can think of right now. It's not really that exciting. Sorry. In other news we got our first snow yesterday...not really that happy about it. I was getting excited for the fall weather, but then we got bombarded with winter early! Hopefully it will warm up a bit before we really get into winter. Here are a couple of pictures from the last couple of weeks.
General Conference! Best seats ever! Thank you Kenzie's dad!

    What a week

Things I have done this week:
    • rode a ferris wheel with Siân-Amy, Clarissa, and Melinda
    • got free popcorn, soda, and cotton candy
    • worked with Lea Salonga's merchandise man, Will, and stood about 5 feet away from her while she signed autographs. you can read more about my experiences with Lea Salonga here.
    • got a free t-shirt and cd from previously said merchandise man
    • got Katie and Brooke hooked on the lovely website Pinterest. if you don't know what it is you should check it out, but be warned: you WILL become addicted
And the week isn't even over yet! I may have fit in some homework in there, but despite any of the homework I have done the things I have done this week have made up for it. Life is wonderful.

    The benefits of homework?

This evening I decided to do some reading for class, I know crazy. I mean who actually does the reading for school!? Anyways, I was sitting here at the table doing my reading for my sewing class (which is probably why I didn't mind doing my reading) and Katie and Brooke decided to make Gooey Snickerdoodle Bars from Pioneer Woman's website Tasty Kitchen. This is the benefits of having homework because then I can sit here and watch them bake me nice treats and then I get to reap the benefits of their delicious concoctions. Yes this is simply lovely, despite the homework.
    The bakers
    My reading
I even got to lick the beater!
    Their reading
    The end product! Delicious!

    Something new

Today was the first day of school. I'm a junior now and I sort of feel like this is the beginning of the end for some reason. I'm half way done with college now and I still don't know what I'm going to do when I'm done. I have had a lot of mixed feelings about this new semester. I'm really excited about my classes, until I remember all the work that I will have to do. I'm excited to meet new people in my ward and my classes. I feel a little bit like an old person when I see all the smiley freshmen, and yet I still feel like I'm a little baby because I still don't know what I'm doing half the time. This past week or so I have really been thinking a lot about my life and what I want to do with it. I wish I could map out my life, but I know that in reality, no matter how much I plan, things may not work out that way and God may have something else for me to do. I don't know what I will be doing in a year or next week or even tomorrow, but I know that I want to make myself a better person. I want to commit myself to the Lord's will and become a tool in his hands. I feel like this is a really critical time in my life and I want to make sure I use this time wisely. Sometimes I wonder if I am where I am supposed to be in life, but as I look back on my experiences I realize that everything happens for a reason and I wouldn't be here right now if I wasn't here for something. I know that God has a plan for me and if I choose to live as He has asked me to then I will be blessed and be led to greater things. I plan on making this a great year and I know that through Him all things are possible.

I barely even got a tan

    School starts next Monday.
I thought that I was ready for school to start, but now I don't think I am.
I feel like I still have things I want to do before the summer is over.
It seems I don't have much time left.
So in the midst of unpacking all mine and Katie's things this week I hope I can make this last week of summer enjoyable.
I'll try not to think too much about the onslaught of homework that I will encounter this semester or the amount of money I'll have to dish out for books.
I won't stress myself out before the school year has even started.
I will have fun and love summer. Well, what's left of it that is.
